Updates: May-June 2021

Just a few updates for you!

>>> Pad work & sparring are back!
Thank you for your patience while we’ve been getting to grips with the ever-changing government guidance! We’ve just updated our COVID-19 Implementation Plan; please have a read and check that you’re happy with the measures we have in place. The main changes include:

  • Pad work and sparring are now permitted for under 18s; although students must be grouped into ‘training bubbles’ of no more than 15 people (these bubbles will be coordinated by the club)
  • Students aged 18 & over are currently permitted to train with 2m distancing in place (no contact permitted with others, unless from same household).

If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please get in touch.

>>> Classes for June 2021
Classes for June will be available to book online this Wednesday 26th May. Book via our website here.

>>> Merchandise Orders
We’ll be placing equipment and merchandise orders at the end of the month, so please let us know if you need any kick pads, uniforms, t-shirts, hoodies, etc. Please take a look at our catalogue to see what’s available.
The deadline for this month’s orders is Saturday 29th May (payment required at time of order).

>>> Events
Now that restrictions are easing, there are various events being planned, including tournaments! Please check out our Events page for more information.
Coming up in the next few months:

  • Sunday 11th July – LTSI Taekwondo Pure tournament (black belts only), Hatfield.
  • Sunday 18th July – GTI Umpires & Referees Course (open to red belts & above, aged 16+), Shrewsbury. Please register to attend by completing this form.
  • Sunday 12th September – GTI National Open tournament, Cheltenham.
  • Sunday 10th October – GTI Black Belt Grading, Derby.

The next colour belt grading date is still to be confirmed, but is likely to be on a Saturday in September.

That’s all for now. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks 🙂

COVID-19 Update: March 2021

Just a quick update on the taekwondo situation!

As long as the government’s “roadmap” goes as planned, we’re hoping to re-start classes next month. Classes for under 18s will be able to start from 12th April (at the earliest), while adult classes will hopefully resume from 17th May.

All classes will continue to be socially distanced and limited in size until at least 21st June. We ask that students continue to follow our COVID-19 guidance and stay home if displaying any symptoms.

We’ll be in touch with students in the next few weeks to let you know when classes will be available to book online, and to renew any expired licences.

Take care 🙂

COVID-19 Update: January 2021

Sigh. We should have known when we opened our booking system yesterday that we were tempting fate! 🙈
Unfortunately, given this evening’s lockdown announcement, we will need to suspend all classes until restrictions are lifted.

Apologies to those who have already made bookings (thanks for your support though!). We’ll be in touch via email regarding credits/refunds.

Please don’t let this lockdown stop you from training. There are loads of free martial arts & workout videos on YouTube, as well as patterns videos; so carry on working towards your goals 💪

Stay safe, everyone ❤️

COVID-19 Update: December Classes

Now that it’s been confirmed that Liverpool will be going into Tier 2, we can confirm that classes will be restarting next week, on Wednesday 2nd December! 🙌

Online booking will be available from Sunday 29th November.

The Tiger and Colour Belt Grading that was previously scheduled for Saturday 12th December will now take place on Saturday 19th December, in order to give students more time to prepare.

Please continue to follow our COVID-19 guidance and stay home if you display any symptoms.

See you soon! 😃

COVID-19 Update: November 2020

All classes are now suspended until at least Wednesday 2nd December. Provided the COVID-19 lockdown is then lifted as planned, we aim to restart classes from Friday 4th December.

We’ll be in touch in a few weeks’ time to let everyone know if and when December classes are available to book online.

Until then, please stay safe!

COVID-19 Update: October 2020

After reviewing the latest COVID-19 guidance relating to Liverpool being placed in the Tier 3 (‘Very High’) local alert level, our understanding is that classes will be allowed to continue, but ONLY for students aged under 18.

As these new restrictions come into effect tomorrow (Wednesday 14th October), we will unfortunately need to cancel bookings for our adult students, and we will be unable to accept any new bookings from adult students. We will be contacting any adults who have already booked classes to arrange credits and/or refunds.

Junior classes will be running as usual. Senior classes will continue to run for our under-18 teenaged students.

We will keep the guidance under review and will let you know about any further updates. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Thanks, as always, for your support. Stay safe ❤️

COVID-19 Update: September 2020

New government guidance in effect from Monday 14th September states that gatherings of more than than six people in England will be illegal. However, organised indoor sports carried out in a COVID-secure way are exempt – which, we understand, means that we can continue to train.

We’re keeping up to date with the guidance, as well as keeping an eye on what other taekwondo clubs are doing; so we’ll let you know if anything changes.

In the meantime, please continue to distance yourselves from each other outside the club, and adhere to the requirements of our COVID-19 Implementation Plan.

Thank you.

Reopening Date!

We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be restarting taekwondo classes on Wednesday 2nd September!

Classes will look very different from before the pandemic, so please read the updated Implementation Plan so that you know what to expect.
Some of the main changes include:

  • Maximum of 8 students per class
  • All activities will be non-contact and students will be distanced by 2 metres
  • Classes must be booked and paid for online (first come, first served)
  • Class fees will increase to £4.00 per hour
  • No parents/guardians or spectators may enter the building (unfortunately, the back room will be unavailable)
  • The Saturday class timetable will change to include a Junior class, Senior class, Red & Black Belt class, and an hour-long online session
  • Coaches will carry out thorough cleaning of training areas and corridors/surfaces. Hand sanitiser will be available for students’ use on entry/exit
  • No new students accepted until further notice.

We realise that some of these measures are not ideal, but we hope you’ll understand that it’s the best we can do at the moment. We’ll keep government guidance under review, and let you know if we’re able to ease any of the restrictions.

Classes will be available to book online in the next few weeks. Students will be sent an email alert once bookings are open. We’ll also check for expired licences and get in touch with you if you need to renew (your licence should be valid before you book a class).

We look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks’ time (we still have certificates and belts for those who did the grading way back in March!). In the meantime, try to work on your fitness and go over your patterns; it will make the shock of returning to training a little easier! 🙂

You can also continue to join us on Saturday mornings throughout August for our free Zoom sessions (check your email for details!).

Please get in touch if you have any questions. See you soon!

Class changes due to COVID-19

We are currently working on a confirmed reopening date for our classes. In the meantime, please read our COVID-19 policies, so that you know what to expect when we return. Classes will be very different from before, and we hope you’ll understand that these measures are necessary for us to comply with public health and government guidance, and to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch.
