Thinking of joining?

Thank you for your interest in our club! Please see information for new students below.

COVID-19
Although COVID-19 restrictions have now been eased, we should still be cautious. If you feel unwell, have any symptoms, have recently been in close contact with a positive case, or have been advised to isolate,Β please do not attend training.

Spectators/Parents
Spectators and parents are welcome to watch classes, although we ask that they follow the COVID-19 guidance above.

Classes
You can find details of our class timetable, location and class fees here. Remember, your first lesson is FREE! Please come along any time – there’s no need to book in advance.

Who can train?
We welcome both novice and advanced students from age 5 upwards. You don’t need to be super-fit or have any previous experience. Just come along and have a go! You don’t have to keep up with anybody else or worry about being judged; just go at your own pace and do what you can. We were all beginners once, and our students are a friendly and supportive bunch πŸ™‚
If you have any injuries or issues, please speak to the instructor so he can safely modify each activity for you.
If you have previous experience in ITF-style taekwondo and already hold a belt/rank, we will usually honour this, as long as your previous syllabus is similar to ours. Further belts can only be achieved if/when you show proficiency in the relevant theory and practical requirements of your grade (which is the case with all students).

What to wear/bring
Most of our students wear martial arts style trousers and a t-shirt, or a full dobok (taekwondo uniform) and belt. If you don’t have any martial arts clothing, we recommend any loose-fitting trousers suitable for sports (or shorts or leggings if you prefer), and a t-shirt. Other than that, just bring a drink with you and you’ll be good to go!

Licence forms
All taekwondo students are required to have a licence, which validates our insurance and provides students with membership of our association, Global Taekwondo International (GTI). We require all new students to complete a licence form before they train with us, and the annual fee of Β£25 should be paid as soon as possible. Once you hold a valid licence, you will also be eligible to take part in belt gradings and tournaments.
