Well done to our awesome students who were in action at the BUTL University World Championships last weekend!
On day one, all three of our colour belt competitors – Alan, Harry & Athika – fought incredibly well against strong opponents and did the club proud. We’re pleased to report that, after several tough matches and a final round that went on forever, Athika won a well-deserved gold in her sparring category, becoming University Taekwondo World Champion!
On day two, we had three students competing; and all three gave impressive performances to bring home the medals!
Callum won bronze in patterns, in a really impressive category. He then went on to beat some tough opponents in the sparring event, winning gold to become University Taekwondo World Champion!
Alan stepped up to the black belt sparring category for the first time. Despite being in obvious pain and having to stop several times with a knee injury, he fought like a tiger and won a hard-earned but well-deserved silver medal!
Sandra won a bronze medal in her patterns event. She also impressed the coaches and fought really well to take the bronze medal in sparring!
Thanks to Connor and Callum for doing a great job of coaching our fighters, and to everyone who came along to support them. Thank you to Mr Ross Sharman and the team at BUTL for all their hard work, and for being so helpful. We’ll done on a successful and enjoyable competition!
