Grading Revision

Tiger Grades

Tiger grades have been specifically developed for younger students, who may take more time to get to grips with the requirements of the full colour belt syllabus. The Tiger syllabus breaks down the requirements of the first colour belt grade into three manageable levels. Students who complete a Tiger Grading will be awarded a belt and certificate to mark their achievement.

Tiger Gradings are held on the same dates as Colour Belt Gradings, usually every 3 months. Students must demonstrate that they are able to meet all the grading requirements before they are permitted to grade.

Colour Belts

Colour Belt Gradings are usually held every 3 months. Students are only permitted to grade if the instructor believes they are ready and able to meet all the grading requirements.

Minimum times between gradings:
– 3 months from white to blue belt
– 6 months from blue to black belt*.

*Note: on rare occasions, students may be fast-tracked and allowed to grade after 3 months, but only if the instructor believes they are already proficient in all requirements for the next grade.
